Toothbrushes
* Be sure to change your brush every 3 months
All of these brushes have the tapered bristles that I recommend. They contact more of the tooth surface area than the classic bristles, especially at the gumline. They are also gentle on your gums and won't contribute to recession. This is a sampling of some of the brushes and the differences between them. Brushes with this type of bristles are becoming easier to get now, and I frequently see them in stores.

NIMBUS
This is the softest of the bunch. I recommend the compact head for easier access to the molars.

GUM Technique Deep Clean
These bristles are also very soft. The handle is designed to help you maintain the correct angle to the gumline while brushing. These are high quality, budget friendly brushes.

NADA
This is my favorite manual brush, and the only truly zero-waste brush that I know of. The handle is made of solid aluminum, is well balanced, easy to keep clean, and designed to keep the bristles facing up if you lay the brush on the counter. The heads are replaceable- mail them back to Nada in the provided envelope and they will recycle them through TerraCycle.

Note: Make sure you order the soft bristles. They have a medium option, but I do not recommend it.

Bamboo brushes
These brushes are made of bamboo, with nylon bristles (not recyclable). They're quite a deal at 12 brushes for the price, and a decent brush overall. You can use these for as your daily brush, to pack in travel bags and purses so you don't want to keep them dry between uses, so don't store in a cup or in a case as the bamboo can grow mildew.
